There are too many good games coming out on all three systems that cost enough money as is. And you know that DLC won't be cheap. Won't people rather purchase FULL games rather than add ons? Especially since money is going to be tight on a lot of people.
For example, for those that have a 360, if money is an issue, wouldn't you rather pick up Fable, Gears of war 2, or Left 4 Dead instead of additional content for a game ...
I'm just saying that split is expected to be negated by online play (according to developers, not fans)
And even if online crowds die out, as long as you can still connect to your friends and play the same way you would have in split screen, it doesn't really matter if the crowds die out.
True, Casuals are a big market and online gaming won't matter to them all that much. But the other side of that coin is FPS games aren't necessarily considered casual. So to that ex...
But I don't find the loss of split screen to be that big a deal.
First of all, for me personally, it's very distracting to have to share part of a screen. And no matter how big the screen is, it's still an annoyance. Especially if you're in a deathmatch. People can ALWAYS see where you are.
Secondly, the reason they feel the need to get rid of split screen to begin with is because this is the age of online gaming. Most gamers are connected online whether it be PC, PS...

Did you see me say DVD9 was holding anything back? Besides, there are more things separating the two systems than disc format.

The Squaresoft that we knew and loved was around when HE wasn't the president. When Wada became the head, that's when things started getting bad. And the ONLY reason FF13 versus might stay exclusive is because the employees begged him to keep it that way. But that might not be enough because Wada already threatened to fire people if they didn't make the games HE wants to sell rather than the ones they like.
I assume that you believe they WILL take advantage of the ps3 hardware even though the game will be multi platform?

I like their games yeah. But come on, this is stuff that was more than likely on the disc already.
Just like that upcoming Naruto game for ps3. If you pre order from gamestop, you get a special mission and character. And if you pre order from a different store (I forgot the name), you get a different character and a different special mission.
Even the DLC for the 360 version of Eternal Sonata was ALREADY on the disc. Katamari too.
